  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, drained and liquid reserved
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed, or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
